Instructions

By completing this week’s learning activity, you will illustrate that you can:

  1. Differentiate the 3 types of claims: frequency, association, and causal.
  2. Identify which validities are most relevant for different types of claims.
  3. Ask appropriate questions to help you interrogate each of the four big validities.
  4. Identify the criteria required to support a causal claim.
  5. Evaluate whether a certain claim can be made.

This activity is designed to help you apply what you have learned about the three claims (frequency, association, causal) and the four big validities (construct, statistical, external, internal).

To answer the questions, please make sure you have read Chapter 3 and have viewed the lectures. Please read the following web article: https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/health-news/watching-cat-videos-boost-energy-and-positive-emotions-study-finds-10329218.html

Based on what you learned in Chapter 2, using PsycINFO, find the original peer-reviewed journal article (please feel free to read it). As part of this quiz, you will be asked to provide the following information: the author's last name, the year the study was published, the title of the study, the journal name, the volume number, the page numbers, and the doi. All of these are needed to cite the article in APA format.

As you will need to type in some of your answers, please be careful with your typing/spelling. The computer program will not be able to know if your answer is wrong of if you misspelled the correct answer.

Only registered, enrolled users can take graded quizzes
